Is this possible to integrate with Core Joomla Components?

Hi! I've just had known Component Creator and got very excited. I'd like to create a company chart using com_contact and show a unic view with all the categories and users. I've imagined to create a component to manage the departments and show the chart and use the com_contact to manage users. Is this a possible solution? How could it be possible?
