Help With Linking Fields Subforms and Tables

Hello i have a table #__alliance with a subform added to it to list alliance members. I was wondering is there a way if i have a table #__players with a field named "alliance " that holds the ID of the alliance they are part of from table #__alliance. Who would i go about propagating the subform field with a list of members form the #__players table?

Or if there is a better way to do this?

Did you try using Foreign Key fields?
